Creating Your First Portfolio

Step 1: Navigate to Portfolios

Go to Portfolios from the top navigation or press P on your keyboard.

Step 2: Create a New Portfolio

Click the "+ Create Portfolio" button in the top-right corner.

Step 3: Configure Portfolio Details

Field Description
Name Descriptive name (e.g., "Retirement IRA", "Growth Portfolio")
Description Optional notes for your reference
Currency Base currency — USD, EUR, GBP, CAD
Benchmark Comparison index — SPY, QQQ, DIA, IWM
Cash Balance Starting cash position

Step 4: Add Holdings

After creating the portfolio, click "Add Holding":

  1. Enter the stock symbol (e.g., AAPL, MSFT, GOOGL)
  2. Enter the number of shares
  3. Enter your average cost basis per share
  4. Click "Add"

The system automatically fetches: current price, sector, dividend data, beta, and more.

Step 5: Explore Your Analytics

Your portfolio now shows on the Dashboard with:

  • Total value and daily/overall gain/loss
  • Performance charts (1D to ALL timeframes)
  • Sector allocation pie chart
  • Risk metrics (beta, Sharpe ratio, volatility)
  • Top gainers and losers

Pro Tips

  • Create separate portfolios for different strategies (Retirement, Growth, Income)
  • Set the right benchmark — analytics compare against this index
  • Keep cash balance updated for accurate allocation percentages
  • Use Compare Portfolios to see them side by side
