Importing Holdings from CSV

CSV Format

Your CSV file should include these columns:

Column Required Example
symbol Yes AAPL
shares Yes 100
avgCostBasis Yes 150.50
purchaseDate No 2024-01-15

How to Import

  1. Go to Import or click the upload icon on your Portfolio page
  2. Select your CSV file
  3. Review the preview — the system maps columns automatically
  4. Click "Import Holdings"
  5. The system fetches current prices and calculates gains/losses

Tips for CSV Import

  • Use standard ticker symbols (e.g., BRK.B not BRK-B)
  • For mutual funds, use the 5-character ticker (e.g., VTSAX)
  • Preferred stocks: use the -P suffix (e.g., BAC-PL)
  • Remove header rows if they don't match expected column names

After Import

The platform automatically:

  • Fetches live market data for all holdings
  • Calculates unrealized gains/losses
  • Syncs dividend history and upcoming payments
  • Computes risk metrics and sector allocation
  • Runs dividend safety analysis overnight
